Another modern business trend is speed of change
Change of the course, interruptions of the strategy as well as of daily activities have become an integral part of today's business life. Without discipline, imporant tasks are bypassed in order to handle urgent, but less important, interruptions. Combined, worst case, you can have a company where everyone is participating in debate on where to take the company and everyone is reacting to daily crisis, but no one is driving to the place where things improve.

Mg is based on the recognized premise that strategic planning should be open and collaborative, but execution requires self-discipline, low distraction, focus. When you improve your strategic/collaborative capacity, you must also build up execution capability. The paradox of collaboratin is that at some point, someone actually needs to execute and the more collaboration is recognized as valuable work, the higher the risk that collaboration time displaces execution time.
