Email – Crucial but More Noise Than Signal
User-generated content alone already presents too much data for traditional communication approaches to handle. At first glance, this level of chatter seems like a good thing, but parsing signal from noise is proving a daunting challenge. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find the needle in the haystack of noise. This is an opportunity for new solutions reducing the noise and focusing.
Over the last couple of years e-mail has become the single most important source of noise in our business lives.
The existing e-mail tools (mostly Outlook plug-ins) are generally individual productivity tools which address issues on the user’s own desktop. They require a great deal of manual intervention (i.e. to set policies) and are not intended for team or enterprise-wide use.
